Michiel Hoogeveen is a freelance researcher whose goal is to conduct independent research on international relations, specifically on North Korea.
Michiel Hoogeveen earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2011, and his MSc. degree in Political Science from VU University Amsterdam in 2013. During his dissertation about inter-Korean economic relations, Hoogeveen came in contact with North Koreans. These contacts are still of great value today, and one of the driving forces behind his research. Furthermore, Michiel works with all sorts of academia and journalists to conduct independent, non-biased research on geopolitical affairs.
Since 2014, Michiel visited North Korea multiple times to conduct research on the economy and its foreign policy.
His works have been published in Trouw and NRC Handelsblad and he has been asked by, among others: VRT Belgium, NOS, Nieuwsuur and NPO Radio 1 to present his findings.
Michiel's book, Het Kluizenaarskoninkrijk, will be available at Uitgeverij De Blauwe Tijger on September 7, 2018 and can be ordered here via Bol.com

Projects are purely done on a voluntarily basis. No fees are charged. An important part of independent research is where interaction, cooperation and understanding have such value that cannot be translated into profits.
